Jef Elise Barbara's new single, "Sexe Machin / Sex Machine" is out now on limited-edition 7" via Fixture Records. Their first physical release since 2013's Soft To The Touch sees the Montreal-based pop/r&b singer-songwriter stepping out with a slinky 2-song EP that combines elements of brazen disco-funk, late 70s underground, and downtown no wave.

"Sexe Machin / Sex Machine" was created in transcontinental collaboration with reclusive Toulouse-based bedroom producer Pieuvre and recorded at Montreal's Bottle Garden studio. The b-side features a re-interpretation of soft-pop outsider Michael Angelo's "Sorcerer's Delight" with Freelove Fenner stepping in as backing band.

This is a really great, quirky, synth-heavy, luxurious pop record. The songs sound like a combination of early '80s new wave and late '70s soft rock, but the album combines all of those influences to create a sound all its own. Noah Wilson
